Learning Difficulties Programme
Learning is a lifelong process which is most dynamic in our early years particularly birth to 2 years, Years 2 to 7 and 7-12/13 years are also fundamental periods in progression from the primitive survival and movement patterns of the neonate to the higher centre functions we require for thinking, reasoning and processing written, spoken and symbolic language.
A combination of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches are utilised in our learning difficulties/developmental delay programme.
There are three keys to the care plan that we have found to be most successful and are now supported by research.
- Physical corrections to alignment of the spine, pelvis, skull and jaw together with reflex stimulation of primary movement patterns are used to restore healthy sensory feedback to brain information derived from motion in these regions is fundamental to healthy growth in the nervous system.
- A functional exercise programme will be provided to you beginning with simple lower brain stimulation and movement exercises. Towards the end of the intensive phase of the programme more specific exercises are prescribed to provide more stimulation to areas of the brain where activity levels are found to be abnormal.
- A combination of our food programme and appropriate nutritional supplementation is provided to restore healthy function to the digestive and stress response systems. Developmental delay creates disorder in these systems. Disorganisation in the digestive and stress response systems compromises healthy blood sugar levels effectively starving the brain and inhibits normal absorption of a broad spectrum of vitamins and minerals necessary for optimum function in your nervous system.
